The Gard is a very popular holiday destination. The department takes its name from the River Gardon, which joins two streams near Ners as one river and then continues as the Gardon as it flows under the Pont du Gard, the more than 2000 year old Roman aqueduct.
Here you can enjoy the beautiful nature of the Cévennes in the north, but in the Gard there are also beautiful rivers such as the Cèze, Gardon and Vidourle.
The Gard is a real hiking paradise. Most villages have special parking spaces (or always near the church) where signposted walks depart.

august 12, 2023 ...
High time to get back on track. This time we cross France, for a tour of Burgundy and the Gard. Towards the evening we drive into Burgundy and after about 500 km we reach the medieval city of Auxerre. But what we had not taken into account is that there is also the extended Ascension weekend in France. A major event is planned in the vicinity of the campsite this evening. The area had been cordoned off by the police and there were a lot of people out and about. We were unlucky, the municipal campsite was full the entire weekend. A little further towards the historic centre there is a free camper place with about 10 places. Of course also fully booked. Visiting Auxerre will be for another time.

The departure of our next trip. This time we travel to Italy, more specifically, to Umbria - the 'green heart of Italy'.
The green, hilly landscape is rough and hardly affected or modernized, making it seem as if time has stood still here. The medieval towns and villages with monumental monasteries and churches are displayable reminders of Umbria's rich cultural history. The region is named after the 'Umbri', a tribe that settled in this area in the sixth century BC. Umbria is also the heart of the black truffle industry and the 'Baci Perugia': a chocolate bonbon!

About us

Recente bestemmingen

Starten deden we in Fécamp.

5 augustus 2018, … 10 dagen Zwarte Woud. Feldberg, Bernau, todnau, Hochenschwand,  Waldshut.

10 september 2018, Een rondje Zeeland.
